Idyllwild is nestled in the San Bernardino National Forest, so you get the beauty and escape of the national forest just a short distance from the hullabaloo of the city (great for SoCal locals looking to get away from San Diego, LA, Riverside, etc.). It feels like a true escape without the pain of having to travel far. I grew up in a neighboring mountain community, but it was nothing in comparison to Idyllwild -- Idyllwild is a beautiful community with a huge influence on the arts, great food, and community. Whether you want to get away from everyone or steal away to write your screenplay in a quiet cabin and the local coffee shops, Idyllwild is the place to go.

Nestled at the end of town, it's peaceful and their outdoor dining space is perfect when the sun is shining. For the ranch dressing lovers, this place's ranch is legit (and when I asked for some for my fries they kindly loaded me up with a double serving).
