Real-deal Thai food in a no-nonsense space. It's an easy walk from the apartment. Try to prawn choo chee, massaman beef, and the pork belly nam prik. But really, everything is good here. If the heat gets to you, cool it down with a fresh coconut drink.

This bakery-cafe is one of my favourite Bondi stops, and is a 10-minute walk away from the beach, so the bustling spot has more of a Sydneysider feel (but it's Bondi, so people are from all over the world). Quality shakshuka.

One of the best new cafes in Sydney, Matinee is a sweeping space with a bit of a 1950s Venice Beach feel. The menu is inspired, as is the decor. It's off the beaten track, but worth the Uber ride.

It's an iconic beach. The northside is calmer, the south side has the great waves. Go have a swim and a sauna at Icebergs pool, grab brunch nearby, and maybe stick around for hanging out at the "Grassy Knoll" on the north end later in the day and watch the sunset.

Take the ferry from Circular Quay to here for a terrific, cheap way to see the harbour. The slow ferry is actually more scenic, but you can definitely take the fast ferry if you're in a hurry.

Amazing ocean views from this up-and-down coastal walk. It actually goes all of the way to Coogee if you want a bigger walk. It's a great, scenic way to get some sun and exercise. A must-do.
