Quality and expertise make the store a landmark for all those who are looking for delicacies such as spices, truffles, tea, dried mushrooms and balsamic vinegar by the gram or liter;things that nowadays are impossible to find elsewhere in city.
At first sight, “Nono Colussi” (literally Grandfather Colussi) shop seems like an ordinary bakery. In this historical place, biscuits and cakes are freshly baked daily since 1956. The reason to look for this spot is the typical Venetian “focaccia”. A soft and fluffy cake made with yeast base. Nono Colussi’s way to bake this sponge focaccia is the most famous in town and it’s worth the walk and the price (€ 17 for the small one) for tasting it. When I was a child, my aunt usually bought this delicious sweet focaccia for me and my sister. We used to enjoyed it, slice by slice in less than one day. While you are waiting for the package of your focaccia, you can try another amazing pastry baked by Nono Colussi. I really suggest the krapfen stuffed with cream: a real stairway to Heaven. Calle Crosera, 3771, Santa Croce, Venice Veneto, Italy +39 041 476 4322 Marco and Francesco were architects who, when the economic crisis hit, decided to open this small, cosy wine bar. The venue was designed by the owners themselves, with all the decor being vintage pieces from their family's home (think nonna's table, auntie's lamp...). Their plan was to create an aperitivo bar with a wicked boat dock perfect for sitting down at or arriving by canal. The restaurant is inspired by the Adriatic Sea, and the name, Malvasia, owes to wine from Crete Island in Greece. The food is from local orchards on the islands of the lagoon, and they only serve seasonal products — this is almost literally zero-kilometre cuisine. The restaurant is the owners' way of commemorating the relationship between Venice and the Adriatic Sea.
