This is one of those restaurants that always seems to have a Groupon available. In the past, I spent $10 and got $20 worth of food. In fact, this is the only reason I even tried this little whole in the wall. However, it's incredibly close to my house, and it surprised me by having a good selection of Thai food that can be made to order mild or spicy. My favorite appetizer is the Thai style crab rangoon. They're actually made with imitation crab meat, but at $5.25 it's amazing! The Tom Kah Gai soup has the perfect mix of ginger, lemongrass, and mushrooms in a coconut milk base. I've tried several of the entrees and loved every one. So far, my favorite is General Tso's Chicken.

If you get there during happy hour, you can find some great specials. Otherwise, the prices are steep. I've never had a meal that wasn't absolutely mouth watering. You can sit at the bar to hang out with a friend, or have a more intimate dinner in the dimly lit side rooms. It's definitely an upscale place to go for dinner.

In fact, it's so large that I'd recommend you do the add on package where you get the Train, Tram, Sky Safari, Boat, and Carousel for only $10 extra per person. It's about the only way you will have the energy to traverse the whole zoo and see all of the many exhibits.

The specific exhibit being highlighted changes monthly, but Prairie Fire has some neat exhibits for the whole family to enjoy. As a bonus, it's surrounded by adorable shops and lots of restaurants. There's even a large theater and a bowling alley and bocce ball location on the same the block.

Prices are really reasonable. Hy-Vee also has a gas station on location. Even if you don't live here, I recommend getting a fuel saver card. When you buy items that happen to be on their special fuel saver list that week, you earn money off your gas! I tend to buy most of our items in the organic section, and they have a special deal where you earn fuel saver rewards just for making your organic purchases on Wednesdays. I filled up this weekend and only paid $1.20 per gallon due to my savings!

They have the usual grocery store variety of food, and they also have a section for healthy/ organic products. Prices are really reasonable. Hy-Vee also has a gas station on location. Even if you don't live here, I recommend getting a fuel saver card. When you buy items that happen to be on their special fuel saver list that week, you earn money off your gas! I tend to buy most of our items in the organic section, and they have a special deal where you earn fuel saver rewards just for making your organic purchases on Wednesdays. I filled up this weekend and only paid $1.20 per gallon due to my savings!
If you want to be sure you are only buying completely organic products, this is the closest place to go. They have a wide variety of produce and other essentials. I think the prices are more reasonable of some other stores who focus on selling healthy food.

Aldi's has a quickly changing selection, but it's all crazy inexpensive. You can get food, essentials, and even household storage items in the middle aisles. It's a surprise selection each time I visit.

Getting Around
If you don't want to drive, just call for an Uber! Typically the prices are super reasonable, and there is always a driver near my house. I like to use this option if I know I may have a drink or two with dinner and I don't want to risk driving illegally. I've always had positive experiences when I use Uber, and for me it has always felt safe.
Make sure you download the app and enter your credit card information prior to scheduling a ride. You'll be sent a description of the make and model of your driver's car so you will be sure you're being picked up by the correct person.
