Tian Jin Onion Pancake

The line is pretty long no matter what time of the day but the menu is limited so it goes by quickly. It's freshly made airy green onion pancake. I usually get it plain with hot sauce or add an egg but that's about it. We split a large bowl of beef noodle soup (see above) then shared one of these with an egg afterwards.

Not to be confused with Yong Kang Sliced Beef lol. Try to go for early/late lunch or early dinner to avoid a line. A large bowl is huge, you can probably split that between two people and be ok with the portion, especially if you'll walk down the street for some chong zhua bing (see next item). The spare rib rice is just ok to me but that's personal reference. I get the spicy all-meat option (personally not a fan of tendon) but their tendon is actually pretty tender..

Don't be intimidated by the line, it's usually about 25 minutes from the beginning of the line until you get your food. My favorites are the savory soy milk and egg pancake (dan bing). Most people get Shao Bing You Tiao too but the savory soy milk is the true star of this place. If you really hate waiting in lines, try to go early/on a weekday. They close by 12 or 1pm I think.

At RaoHe night market. If you don't see a long line weaving in and out at the beginning of the market, you're on the wrong side of the market, so just walk around or through to the other side. The line appears long but it goes by quickly since this is all they sell and they make them quickly.

Villa Thai Massage

There are 2 locations, Da'an and Zhongshan. The Da'an one is smaller but I have been to both and they are both great. I usually get the hour thai massage but they have a lot of different options. It starts off with a ~10-15 minute foot scrub and massage then a 1 hour total body massage. It ends with hot brown sugar ginger tea and random snacks. I think the total cost was $1250 NT. The massage therapists are all really great and you can always tell them if you want more or less pressure. Their english is usually pretty decent too. I think it's still my favorite massage of all time.

It starts off with a ~10-15 minute foot scrub and massage then a 1 hour total body massage. It ends with hot brown sugar ginger tea and random snacks. I think the total cost was $1250 NT. The massage therapists are all really great and you can always tell them if you want more or less pressure. Their english is usually pretty decent too. I think it's still my favorite massage of all time.

Kind of an obscure location next to a small park, but I came across this place because I read that the owner of this shop is known as the Siphon coffee master of Taiwan. There are a lot of exotic beans to choose from and the coffee is goooodd. I wish I took a picture of the menu because I can't remember which Ecuadorian coffee I got.

I love fried chicken and this is one of my top 3 favorite fried chicken places of all time. Taiwanese fried chicken is unlike that of American fried chicken/Korean fried chicken. They batter a large chicken filet and season it with white pepper. It's amazing. There are multiple locations of Hot-Star around Taipei, so do a Google Maps search for the one closest to you.
