The National Museum of History is Bulgaria's largest museum. Founded in 1973, the National Museum of History in Sofia contains large exhibits connected to archaeology, fine arts, history and ethnography and is one of the largest history museums on the Balkans.

The Boyana Church is situated on the outskirts of Sofia. It is a medieval church, showing constructional phases of the property, from the 10th-11th; 13th; and 19th centuries and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Vitosha mountain is the forth tallest mountain in the country, the oldest nature park in the Balkans and one of the symbols of Sofia with its closest site for hiking, alpinism and skiing. Convenient bus lines and rope ways render the mountain easily accessible.
