Walk along to Raeburn Place, and you’ll find lots of artisan coffee shops, boutique shops and neighbourhood amenities like our local fishmonger and butchers, and 2 award winning cheesemongers (George Mews & IJ Mellis). There’s also a famous Stockbridge Market every Sunday selling fresh produce, delicious street food as well as local art and gifts – be sure to get there early as it’s very busy!

If you’re here for the festival, many of the shows and festivities take place in Edinburgh’s Old Town. This is also where a lot of Edinburgh’s historical sights are, including the Castle and the Royal Mile. The Royal Mile is the busiest street in the city during the festival: you can wander up from Holyrood Palace (at the bottom) to Edinburgh Castle (at the top). As well as tourist shops and cafes, you will see lots of street performers during August. George Square & Bristo Square are other big festival areas, with lots of outdoor bars and food trucks.

If you are looking for something different, slightly out of the city centre, the Shore in Edinburgh is a lovely area by the waterfront with lots of places to eat. There are two Michelin Star restaurants (The Kitchin and Martin Wishart), as well as a host of seafood options.
