Deep Creek Trail Trailhead
West Deep Creek RoadWe have rafted the Nantahala River many times and used several outfitters. This is one of our favorites. There are some restrictions for rafting the Nantahala. Rafters must be at least 7 yrs old or 60+ lbs. The trip usually takes 3-4 hours. For a list of rafting outfitters just google: “rafting outfitters near Nantahala”. The Nantahala has class 2-3 rapids.

You can rent tubes for a day for about $5 from numerous rental stores just outside the park. Entrance to the park is free with picnic tables and grills right near the creek. Sightseeing
We always enjoy going here with friends and especially with children. It’s so impressive to be able to safely walk behind the Falls and sense the awesome power and beauty. There is also an overlook for those who just don’t want to or can’t walk down the pathway to the falls. There are lots of other falls and rapids on this road with beautiful overlooks. Take Hwy 64 out of Franklin towards Highlands.

Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap with 318 curves in 11 miles: America's number one motorcycle and sports car road. Designated US 129, the road is bordered by the Great Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest with no intersecting roads or driveways to hamper your travel. We have traveled this route a couple of times. It’s exciting and picturesque. Just put Deals Gap in your GPS. It’s about 1 hr+ to the start of the Tail of the Dragon from our cabin.

Meigs Falls
