If you like to explore some local historical sites then Shaftesbury Abbey is a must see. Great for children and adults alike and there is a small entrance fee. You can also pay to have an audio tour, which is great fun.

Even if you aren't a National Trust Member this is a lovely place to visit and the gardens and house are beautiful. With only a short 20 minute drive from Shaftesbury, it is a must see.
