**hay qui visitar El jadida por los monumentos históricos que tiene , es la parte antigua de la cuidad (La zona portuguésa) , Concretamente los portugueses se instalaron en la ciudad en el año 1502 y le pusieron el nombre de Mazagán. Muchos años y conflictos después, decidieron abandonarla para colonizar otra ciudad brasileña. Así pues los habitantes partieron en el año 1769 dejando abandonada la ciudad.
La estancia de la colonia portuguesa dejó en la ciudad edificios de interés turístico como es la antigua Iglesia de la Asunción, su fortaleza que conjuga el estilo árabe con el europeo y sus murallas. Estos edificios fueron declarados Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en el año 2004.
se puede visitar las calles estrechas y escondidas y también las murallas anchas que protege la cuidad en la época portuguésa,La zona subterránea de la fortificación se utilizó como sala de armas en un principio, pero con los años le dieron otro uso convirtiéndola en CISTERNA.
Con el abandono de los portugueses la cisterna quedó olvidada y fue en el año 1916 cuando se descubrió de nuevo. Un comerciante que quería ampliar su negocio derribó uno de los muros y se topó con la construcción oculta. Se rehabilitó, se vació el agua y se llenó de agua limpia. Se abrió una pequeña claraboya para que entrase un poco de luz natural y se abrió al público
Ahora se llama "El jadida" que significa en español "LA NUEVA" y también la recomiendo por sus playas tan largas y tan bonitas
***there is what to visit El jadida for the historical monuments it has, it is the old part of the city (The Portuguese zone), specifically the Portuguese settled in the city in 1502 and named it Mazagan. Many years and conflicts later, they decided to leave it to colonize another Brazilian city. So the inhabitants left in the year 1769 leaving the city abandoned.
The stay of the Portuguese colony left in the city buildings of tourist interest such as the old Church of the Assumption, its fortress that combines the Arab style with the European and its walls. These buildings were declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 2004.
You can visit the narrow and hidden streets and also the wide walls that the city protects in the Portuguese era. The underground area of the fortification was used as a weapons room at first, but over the years they gave it another use making it a CISTERNA.
With the abandonment of the Portuguese the cistern was forgotten and it was in 1916 when it was discovered again. A merchant who wanted to expand his business broke down one of the walls and ran into the hidden construction. It was rehabilitated, the water emptied and filled with clean water. A small skylight was opened for some natural light to enter and it was opened to the public
Now it is called "El jadida" which means in Spanish "LA NUEVA" and I also recommend it for its long and beautiful beaches
