Sightseeing

Pack your picnic, swimming gear and head for this fabulous lake .. there are places to park up and get down to the shoreline, it’s a bit muddy getting into the water so I use crocs.. once in it’s absolutely gorgeous, tranquil and listen out for the sound of goat bells

Just approx half hour drive away or there’s a bus if you prefer. Historically beautiful Ronda.. definitely not to be missed if you have the time ! So much to see in the way of the different eras , the moorish buildings , the famous gorge which can’t fail to impress, churches monasteries , views are awesome , loads of choice in food and drinks.. I have my favourites which I’ll be happy to share with you , Shopping streets, the bullring with its museum, beautiful tranquil parks and quaint cobbled streets , corners to explore.. beware of the heat in the high summer , wrap up really warm in the winter and best footwear is flat with a non slip sole as those cobbles are really smooth and slippery. I usually carry my heels 👠 in a bag if I’m going a bit more high end or food or a cocktail

My favourite cooling off place locally

Picnic, swim , bring the inflatables and your chairs, cool box and enjoy this beautiful spot in the mountains
Love the cold water that comes from the mountain range in view ! A few euros a day for the large recreational area and swimming/chilling/picnicking.. and a zip wire for an extra bit of fun .. there’s a bar serving hot drinks, beer wine and spirits. Ices and crisps etc. If you prefer a quiet time avoid summer weekends. You’re allowed inflatables in the water , and plenty of parking.

Cycling, walking, horse riding

Literally on our doorstep at the bottom of a steep street from the bus station, this is the best of the green ways in southern Spain, hire a cycle, walk , horse ride .. no cars allowed so nice and quiet to enjoy all the different views en route . Take your water and a snack if going the whole way , there’s a couple of inns where you can eat/ drink but you might not go that far along . There’s a viewing station part way where you have chance to see the griffon vultures and boneli eagles catching the thermals above ! I did the full 76km a few years ago .. felt amazing and amazed after !!
