The most important temple for Budhists, The temple of the tooth is housed within what was the Palacial complex of the last king of Sri Lanka.
Please dress conservatively with chest, legs and arms covered.
Budhist are bearfoot within sacrade areas. You can leave your footwear at the station outside for a small fee. Entry is fee. Donations can be made at any of the tills found around the temple.
10 AM is a good time to visit as that is when the morning offering is made and you can get a taste of the Kandian drumming. These beats have been played for 100s of years and it is lovely to hear. The tooth relic was first smuggled in the hair of a princess from India to Sri Lanka.
