(formerly known as Tastee Freeze) is on the other side of Mozart across from Dos. It’s an old school soft serve ice cream place that has a ton of shake flavors and you can get a burger and fries there too. The people watching is fun and folks are friendly here.

at 2020 W Armitage is in the corner of the strip mall across the street from The Freeze. They have great take-out Chinese and their fruit smoothies (with or without tapioca balls) are the bomb!

They’re getting a lot of good buzz for their drink selection AND their food. My new favorite burger and they have Oysters Rockefeller. Swoon.
is directly across the street at 2840 W Armitage. Middle Brow is an awesome local brewery and they have some great beers. Their menu is limited and they’ve been doing some funky COVID rearranging, but it’s always a cool vibe with good beer and good food.

They have a ton of outdoor space with picnic tables and even a ping pong table (pre-COVID anyway). It’s a super hipster place and their drinks are yummy.

They deserve their great reputation for pie, biscuits and the rest of their food too! It’s super tiny inside, but like Parsons, they have outdoor seating at picnic tables on the side.
at 2540 W Armitage is a few blocks east of California. It’s a BYOB place that sometimes has live music and is always lively regardless. Really good Cuban fare!

This place describes themselves as: “Gin-centric cocktails, craft beers & pub grub served in a relaxed urban-rustic bar with cozy nooks.” Their cocktails are amazing and they used to have DJ sets on the weekends (pre-COVID anyway). I tried to get in there on a Sat around 10pm recently, and they were only taking folks with reservations (a temporary post-covid issue, I think).

(aka The Bloomingdale Trail) This elevated 2.7 mile long park is a walking/bike path that takes you through 4 neighborhoods: Bucktown, Wicker Park, Logan Square and Humboldt Park. Mozart Manor is just to the west of the center of the park. There’s an entrance at 1750 N California which is just one block South of Cortland. When you turn right onto CA, you can see an overpass and that’s it! It’s kind of like a freeway with entrances and exits that run the length of the park. There are also 5 satellite parks that spin off of the 606. It can get crowded on the weekend, esp if it’s nice, but it’s def worth checking out. If you exit where the arched bridge is (Milwaukee Ave) or a bit further on Damen, you’re steps from the center of Wicker Park, which is a fun neighborhood with a ton of cool shops (Damen esp!) I LoVe the Trail, even when it's busy. Just remember, stay to the right. :-)

1400 N Humboldt DrHumboldt is a HUGE old school kinda park with a field house, a boat house, a lagoon (with paddle boat swans), baseball diamonds filled with the Puerto Rican leagues (and salsa music) in the summer. There’s a formal garden, tennis courts, a few playgrounds and lots of trees and grass for chillin. If you go out the front door and turn left, just walk the 4 blocks until you run into it! (Be careful crossing North Ave!)
