Future Primitive was almost called Unified Brewing, but they got sued for their name so they decided to change. Future Primitive is a much better name in my opinion. I don’t know if Future Primitive allows outside food, but they rotate food trucks on-site. Street parking can be iffy. They’re celebrating Oktoberfest so their taps are full of German-style beers.

Counterbalance has an indoor and outdoor seating area. The last time I visited, they didn’t have any heaters for the outdoor area and it was a chilly weekend. They’re known for their IPAs and stouts, but they have a nice selection of belgian-style beers. My favorite is their Miming Poetry Saison. Good saisons are tough to find in Washington. You can bring in food from the outside.

Food scene

Really good Macarons place. A bit pricey, but aren't they always? They have a lot of flavors especially ones you wouldn't expect like Thai tea or lychee. They also have gift macarons. My personal favorite is Vietnamese coffee. My wife likes the passionfruit.

I put it as a Must Visit, because it's always something people recommend when visiting Seattle. Between the price and wait, which is substantial at lunch, it's up to you if you want to try this local favorite. If you do, I recommend the Godzilla Attack if you're into spicy foods.

Korean-Hawaiian fusion. Generous portions and is definitely one of the more unique tastes in the area. I would recommend any of their plate lunches. Parking is usually plentiful, but the parking lot itself is poorly designed.

Coffee and breakfast

Moonshot has great coffee and a very interesting take on beverages. This is probably my number one for coffee nearby. If you want to try something uncaffeinated, but still really delicious. The roasted lemonade is made with caramelized sugar and you will definitely want to make it at home. They also offer wine and canned beer if you like to keep it interesting.

Hangar Cafe is by far my favorite breakfast place. They have reasonable portions so you don't feel like you need a nap at the end of breakfast. Their specialties are Crepes and Waffles, savory or sweet. My favorite dish is the Trible B, which is a Belgian Waffle with Brie, Bacon, and Basil on it. Don't come here too hungry though. The kitchen is small and it gets busy so you may have to wait awhile for food.

No frills standard American breakfast. Big portions for the price. You know exactly what you're getting.

Sightseeing

So this is where the tenish comes in. Kubota Garden is a 15 minute drive, but it's probably the nicest spot to come hang out if you have an afternoon flight. You'll be tenish minutes from the airport Kubota Garden is a free place to visit, but donations are always welcomed. It's not super busy except during Spring weekends when everything is in bloom. Don't leave valuables in sight though. Cars do get broken on occasion, but don't let that deter you.
