Paul Bunyan State Trail, stretching 119 miles from Brainerd to Bemidji, is one of the longest rail-trails in the country. The multiuse, fully paved trail is mainly for nonmotorized use; however, snowmobiles are permitted during winter.
BRAINERD/BAXTER TRAIL HEAD
The Paul Bunyan State Trail Head is located on Excelsior Road. From the intersection of State Highway 210 and the State Highway 371 bypass in Baxter, go north 1 block to Excelsior Road, then go east 3/4 mile to Conservation Drive; the parking lot is on the left.
CROW WING STATE PARK TRAIL HEAD
From Baxter, south on Hwy 371 about 9 miles, then west at County Road 27 for one mile to the park ofÿce. From Little Falls, north on Hwy 371, then west on Co. Rd. 27 for one mile to park office.
