Felixstowe (35 minutes drive) offers a diverse range of places to visit, dine, drink and lounge by the beach or river. - Felixstowe beach is our closest beach (c. 25 minutes drive). There is a traditional end (South) and a smarter end (North). You’ll find a pier, ice creams, entertainment, amusements and all the trappings of a traditional seaside resort at the south end. For a quieter experience, head to the north end and enjoy a meal and a drink at Fludyers Hotel. A coffee ‘gem’ is Shore Coffee House in one of the up-cycled shipping containers. - Visit the Ferry Cafe in ‘Old Felixstowe’ past the golf course for a unique experience at the mouth of the Deben River. Perhaps take the foot ferry across the Deben to Bawdsey. - Felixstowe commercial freight docks are fascinating and have a viewing area for the public. Some of the largest container ships in the world unload and load here.

Pretty area next to the River Stour. It’s where the famous artist, John Constable, painted the Haywain. A lovely walk along the river to Dedham and back is an hour’s round trip.
