Brilliant place to have a swim and a drink or something light to eat..I call it Maldives in Kefalonia...sandy floor and thatched roof..

Parks & Nature
It has beautiful off road trails that you can drive in any car all the way to the top and enjoy the dark green pine trees (unique in this part of the world) and the Amazing views and the clean air.
There are many signposted walks that you can do. There are also wild horses you can see if you are lucky enough.

Sightseeing
Fantastic caves with lake. It is worth the visit when the sun is on the top (around lunchtime) when the light will be best for photos. A trip in one of the small boats in the lake is a must. ( When I visit, I usually ask the guides to let me dive from the boat and have a quick swim into the crystal clear AND VERY COLD waters. It is invigorating). You will also need to climb out on the rock, so not for the faint hearted! They only let me do it because I ask nicely and I am perceived as a local ;-)

Melissani Cave
Fantastic caves with lake. It is worth the visit when the sun is on the top (around lunchtime) when the light will be best for photos. A trip in one of the small boats in the lake is a must. ( When I visit, I usually ask the guides to let me dive from the boat and have a quick swim into the crystal clear AND VERY COLD waters. It is invigorating). You will also need to climb out on the rock, so not for the faint hearted! They only let me do it because I ask nicely and I am perceived as a local ;-)

A cave with fantastic Acoustics and beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Many concerts have taken place here (Maria Kalas has sang in here, Mikis Theodorakis and many others performed in this fantastic cave). If you are lucky a performance maybe taking place during your visit.
One of the most photographed beaches in Greece, Europe and the world. There are two vantage points and are signposted as you travel on your way to Assos. Stop and take pictures from both sides. Keep a lookout for the vantage points as you can start seeing Assos from the main road.

Assos has a beautiful castle if you want to climb up there (pick a time where the sun will not be incredibly hot). Beautiful spot to find a nice taverna to eat have a swim. You can make it a day out too, going to Assos and then Fiskardo.

One of the most famous places in Kefalonia. Very busy during High Season, worth a visit and a walk around the harbour and ossibly a drink anda meal if you can find anywhere to seat.
You can also go to the fantastic nearby beaches and go for an evening drink or a meal to Emelise hotel. In the night at the Emelise they light up all roman torches around the paths. Majestic and romantic atmosphere!
You can also take the ferry from here to Lefkada (Vasiliki) and from there to mainland Greece.
