A local fell a short drive away is a perfect walk to get a view over West Cumbria.
One of my favourite walks. About 5-6 miles it follows an old coffin trail starting at Fangs Brow. Gorgeous views from the higher path, then you drop down to Loweswater.

A great place to spend a few hours! Lovely walks/runs to do in this forest and to finish it off with a coffee and cake. Next to Keswick too, which is worth a visit!
