Arts & Culture

The Plaza is the best place to get the feel of La Villa Real de Santa Fe . Just sit on the park benches and take it in. There are several great restaurants with balconies from where you can relax and rest up until you tackle the next lovely spot. Meet the Native Americans who sell true Indian handmade art. The Manhattan Project and it's secret portal is hidden behind Southwest wares on Palace St., with most people simply walking by, or even browsing the colorful kitsch without any awareness of the profound historical event that took place on that patch of ground.

The old coal Mining town of Madrid - population about 150 -has been a favorite of many local Santa Feans who started to move there to just commit to their art. Madrid thrived in the past and after some years it thrives again. There is evidence of primitive mining in the Madrid area as early as the mid-1850's. It's Just a good close by get away. Good food, lots of art to check out and friendly people.
