Just five miles from Star Cabin, Lathrop offers two lakes, one is great for water sports and the other is more secluded. Both allow boats, however one is wake-less. Fishing is excellent in both lakes.

Capulin is one of the few Volcanos where you can actually hike down into the vent. Also, if you are a star gazer, the night-viewing sky is rated 2nd in the world because there is nothing else around it. No ambient light.

Alys' is the best place around by far. It is a small restaurant in La Veta, just next to Walsenburg. Space is limited for each seating and reservations are required.
