Located in one of the most dramatic landscapes in Shetland, the views from the cafe and craft shop, towards the famous sea stacks, 'The Drongs', is simply outstanding. A menu of fresh local produce - much of which is sourced from a working croft - and a range of local crafts, knitwear and gifts.

Everything Else

Papa Stour is famous for its sea stacks, spectacular cliffs, tranquil bays and extraordinary sea caves (the longest in Britain) which support a range of marine flora and fauna. The coastline, with its numerous rock arches, stacks and skerries, is one of the most spectacular in Shetland. For that reason, it has been designated as a marine Special Area of Conservation. The full force of the Atlantic Ocean has carved the western cliffs into beautiful arches, stacks and caves - the most famous of which is the Kirstan Hol. The inter-island ferry from West Burrafirth takes 45 minutes to reach Papa Stour and operates 5 days a week. Booking is essential.

Blasted by the full force of the North Atlantic it displays a stunning array of stacks, blowholes and geos (narrow inlets). However, the Eshaness peninsula also tells a fascinating story of a long extinct volcano and a very different past environment. A beautiful place, well worth a visit! There is also a cafe.
