Cronulla, with its great surf beaches, is easily reachable on the train from Rockdale, going south. This is the ONLY Sydney beach directly reachable by train. Lots of parks along the beachfront too.

Brighton-le-Sands beach and surrounding restaurants and cafes are about a 15-20 minute walk from the apartment. This is a beautiful sandy beach, extremely clean, but on a bay, so no surf.
