Bellinzona Unesco Castles
With its castles, walls, towers, battlements and gates, this impressive fortress is a source of wonder and amazement.
In earlier times, the medieval castles of Castelgrande, Castello Montebello and Castello Sasso Corbaro protected the city they now adorn. Only remnants now remain of the fortress walls that once surrounded Bellinzona. Bellinzona was a very important line of defence for the ancient Romans, and the first written reference dates back to 590.
Castelgrande, also known as Castello di San Michele or Burg Uri, is the oldest of these 13th century castles. Two towers, Torre Nera (28 metres) and Torre Bianca (27 metres) dominate Bellinzona's Old Town. The Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Art are located in the Castelgrande.
Castello Montebello, also known as Schwyz or San Martino, and the castle with the highest elevation, Corbaro Sasso – once known as Unterwalden or Santa Barbara, are among the best preserved medieval castles in Switzerland and are Unesco World Cultural Heritage sites.

LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura
The new cultural centre of the city of Lugano
LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura is a new cultural centre dedicated to the visual arts, music and the performing arts, which promises to become one of Switzerland’s most important cultural institutions, with the aim of promoting a wide range of art and establishing Lugano as a cultural crossroads between northern and southern Europe.
The striking architectural structure, which overlooks the lake, will provide space for a rich programme of exhibitions, events, musical events and theatre and dance performances, along with a variety of cultural initiatives and a packed programme of activities for young people and families. LAC will also be home to the newly-created Museo d'Arte della Svizzera italiana (Art Museum of Italian Switzerland), formed by the amalgamation of the Cantonal Art Museum and the Art Museum of the City of Lugano. Located over three floors, the gallery will hold a permanent exhibition containing the collections of the City of Lugano and of the Canton Ticino, temporary exhibitions and site specific installations. A new 1,000 seat concert and theatre venue, entirely wood-panelled and fitted with a special modular and removable acoustic shell, is ready for a varied programme of performances and concerts. The LAC will be the main location for the LuganoInScena and LuganoMusica (the new name of the Lugano Festival) seasons as well as a home for the Finzi Pasca Company and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, both of which will be resident at the LAC. It will also be involved with the seasonal concerts planned for Radiotelevisione Svizzera (RSI).
The LAC aspires to become the pulsating heart of a cultural network that it extends over the city boundaries - involving the public, para-public and private authorities already active in our cultural world; such as museums, orchestras, artists, cultural associations, libraries, educational institutions, art galleries, and collectors - which aims to build upon a common project.

Barnard allows the passage of the rugged valley that separates the communities of Sementina and Monte Carasso, two towns located in front of Bellinzona. The bridge joins the stone made village of Curzútt to the hiking path of “Via delle Vigne”, allowing you to make excursions in an area characterized by a landscape rich in cultural heritages.
Anchored at a height of 696 m, the bridge rises 130 m above the ground. The walkway, large approximatively one meter, is made of larch wood. Crossing it is a unique experience that represents a true challenge. The safety measures guarantees a risk-free approach and make it a top-attractions either for young intrepid or adventurous families.
The bridge is easily accessible thanks to the cableway Monte Carasso-Curzútt-Mornera. The ancient and picturesque hill town of Curzútt is the ideal starting point to discover this offer or for a gastronomic stop after this thrilling experience.
