This is a great place. Family-owned, been there since the 50s. Very sophisticated, fun, gay spot. Occasional Hollywood glitterati to be seen. Best margaritas in the area, and close to my house. Also a gay/drag dinner theater down in the basement.

This is a classic in the area. El Cid is a spanish-tapas restaurant that also has stages and live music. Very iconic, sort of tropical patio down mysterious steps, overstuffed vinyl booths, sangria. Reggie Watts plays here regularly.

It's like walking into 1968... The deer hunter. South Pacific style tiki bar, very old school. You can smoke in the place (or could for a long time) as it's family-owned, thus has no employees. Drinks are expensive but excellent.

This place is neat. It's a weird little bar that used to be famously hardcore, rough-trade gay. is now very cute and has music, film-screenings. Great to support the local scene, and an easy walk from the cottage.
