Everything Else
This is a museum, which has artefacts from the Dounreay Nuclear plant which is presently being decommissioned. There is also history about the local area on the upper floors with tv reels of past events within the town. Also on the upper floors you will find an extensive collection of plants and drawings by Robert Dick (1811-1866) who was a local baker to trade but became a self taught botanist in his spare time. The house he lived in can be seen from the museum. On the ground floor there is a restaurant which serves excellent food and homemade baking. The upper floor can be accessed via a lift within the main building.

Thurso swimming pool has recently under gone an extensive refurbishment, with new changing facilities plus an up to date gym with brand new equipment. Further information regarding opening times can be found on the Highlife Higland website.

This is the most northerly point on the mainland and the location for the "End to Enders". There are the usual tourist shops plus an excellent ice cream shop and the Storehouse cafe which serves freshly cooked food with ingredients sourced from the area. The positions are plentiful and well priced. This is also the home of the "Groatie" tiny conch like shells which can be found on the beaches surround JoG. They can sometimes be found in prolific numbers or not at all. Many therapeutic and relaxing days have been spent with my family hunting down the "Groatie"!

They sell local produce ranging from chocolates to gin and whiskey! They have an extensive collection of both! There's also other foods that you may not necessarily find in the supermarket. You can also pick up the basics here too.
