Food Scene

Les Papilles (or Tastebuds in English) which is just a block and a half from home. This restaurant has a set menu for €35 and merits a two (out of three) star Michelin rating. The chef sets a fixed menu for the evenings' 5 course meal and focuses on the savors of the day. You may opt to substitute fish for his main plate if you are vegetarian, but otherwise the menu is fixed. A gourmet meal including an amuse bouche (tongue teaser), starter, main plate served in a copper terrine, blue cheese/roquette salad and ending with an Italian dessert. The restaurant stocks an excellent wine selection along the book shelved walls and you can choose according to your taste or the owner's recommendation. What's nice is that they charge seven euros above and beyond the purchase price of the bottle of wine. So you're not getting taken advantage of in paying double the price for a bottle of wine. He ranks #17 out of 20,000 reviews on Trip Advisor and you can visit his website here: http://www.lespapillesparis.fr/EN_index.html or trip advisor's review is here : http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187147-d719540-Reviews-Les_Papilles-Paris_Ile_de_France.html

This restaurant, the only one on the Place du Pantheon has a glass veranda. From the first two rows of tables, or from the terrace you can see the Eiffel Tower and how it lights up every hour on the hour at night! All the classic French food from French onion soup to escargots and foie gras, daily specials and much appreciated full meal plated salads.

Parks & Nature

This garden is such a special place, you will want to memorize the colors, & sounds, as well as the smile on your child's face. There is a huge children's playground (parc a jeux). For a small fee to enter, the playground is worth it. There are swings, slides, zip lines, sandboxes, playhouses, remarkably clean, and highly maintained. There are also pony rides, an old fashioned carousel, marionette theater and two cafés with large terraces. Green grass spaces alternate locations, so picnicking is on lush greens. Petanque, & tennis courts too! The activity that seems most French is at the octagonal pond, also called the Grand Basin, for a small fee you can rent a toy sail boat to float!
