Food Scene
Good all around restaurant at The Cove resort, considering the island simplicity.
In general, well executed dishes, still service is at Island time.
Recommend going for lunch, the views are gorgeous.
Call in advance as sometimes they have special parties. i.e. We went on July 4th and they had a beach party and no food service in the restaurant and we did not feel like having hot dogs and burgers (set up on the beach was gorgeous with DJ and festive decor)

Great place to have a very good meal paired with an incredible view of Governors Harbour harbor. Our good friend Charles runs a tight kitchen.

Cozy gourmet grocery store and small bites/wine bar. Also at night now hosts a set menu in a delightful private room on the side. I haven's yet tried it but I hear is very nice.

Great place that offers (when in season) local lobster and stone crabs. Next town over (Hatchet Bay) going North. Chef / owner gets his daily catch and executes simple but delicious dishes.

The Cliffs show the unbelievable raw power of the ocean. Can walk to this Bahamas Heritage Site from the house or it half a mile south of the house by car.

If you go around 5 you will see Dan Larry and their potcake Ruffus.

If you go around 5 you will see Dan Larry and their potcake Ruffus.
Adventurous trip to get to this beach on the southernmost tip of Eleuthera. It is a truly fantastic place no picture or words can describe accurately. 65 miles (105 km) South, any further and you are with the fishes!
Need SUV/Jeep to get there as the road is challenging the last few miles, but that is part of the fun.
Start early and plan to stop at the Ocean Hole in Rock Sound. On the way back stop at quaint Tarpum Bay town.

Lighthouse Beach
Adventurous trip to get to this beach on the southernmost tip of Eleuthera. It is a truly fantastic place no picture or words can describe accurately. 65 miles (105 km) South, any further and you are with the fishes!
Need SUV/Jeep to get there as the road is challenging the last few miles, but that is part of the fun.
Start early and plan to stop at the Ocean Hole in Rock Sound. On the way back stop at quaint Tarpum Bay town.
Secluded and beautiful. Great swimming and snorkeling.

Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve is fantastic way to appreciate the flora of Eleuthera.
Manicured park with over 300 species of native plants, 65 species of birds, and 100 species of medicinal plants.
In Governors Harbour area on Banks Road, about 17 miles (28km) to the south.

Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve
Banks RoadLeon Levy Native Plant Preserve is fantastic way to appreciate the flora of Eleuthera.
Manicured park with over 300 species of native plants, 65 species of birds, and 100 species of medicinal plants.
In Governors Harbour area on Banks Road, about 17 miles (28km) to the south.
Natural shallow water rock formations to take a bath like a King or Queen.
You have to be very careful during rough sea conditions as it can be very dangerous (and humbling to see). Close to Gaulding's Cay beach.
Also, next to the house, if you go to the right about 200/300 yards after some sandy area, there is a similar formation (a picture of it is in the house pictures)

Big Rock General Store is minutes away south of the house. Tony is the owner and a fantastic person. He's got all the basic selections you might need for food.
Neat Island store with many local arts and craft selections.
Island Made Gift Shop is located on Queen's Highway in Gregory Town. They have an interesting collection of unique gifts and are referred to as the best gift shop on the island.
There is a lot to see and buy here, including a wide variety of beautiful handcrafted Bahamian treasures made from straw, seashells, coconut and sea glass, plus other souvenirs. Items available include:

Androsia fabric
Jewelry
Original hand-painted T-shirts
Tropical island wear

This event attracts lots of tourists and natives alike. The proceeds from the event go towards the annual homecoming and various projects within the community.
