A whole street full of eateries! The Strand is famous for it's lovely food scene. There are several very reasonable restaurants sitting on the strip of The Strand, all looking out over the water. At the end of Warf Street you are in for a real Kiwi experience getting fish fresh from the fishing boats. They cook it right there in a little wooden restaurant on the wharf....and they proud themself that it is not healthy :-) , because you just want to eat more and more. There are wooden benches outside on the water edge to sit and eat this treat. About 10 minutes drive from our home.

The Strand
The StrandA whole street full of eateries! The Strand is famous for it's lovely food scene. There are several very reasonable restaurants sitting on the strip of The Strand, all looking out over the water. Parks & Nature
It is lovely set up with a within an old quarry with trees and native plants and a walkway up so that you have stunning views over the Bay of Plenty. Take a picnic basket with you to have a picnic under the trees. Ten minutes’ drive out of Tauranga City is McLaren Falls Park, set alongside Lake McLaren. One of the highlights of the park is the Waterfall. . Driving into the park you will have a little coffee shop on the right. Drive on to get to a parking area. To the one side is the beautiful waterfall. Enjoy a short, easy stroll to the picturesque waterfall. Going the opposite direction of the waterfall will take you over a small bridge into a charming area for a picnic alongside the lake

Park and beach combined. Relax under the lovely big trees when having a picnic looking towards the famous Mount Manganui. When it is low tide you can walk far into the estuary. On a windy day you can watch kite flyers. You can take your own sausage or steak to sizzle while you watch the sunset. This is walking distance from our home. Two minutes by car. Pick up a fish and chips at Hooked on Matua in Tilby drive and go straight down the road for 500m to enter Ferguson Park.

Fergusson WayPark and beach combined. Relax under the lovely big trees when having a picnic looking towards the famous Mount Manganui. When it is low tide you can walk far into the estuary. On a windy day you can watch kite flyers. You can take your own sausage or steak to sizzle while you watch the sunset. This is walking distance from our home. Two minutes by car. Pick up a fish and chips at Hooked on Matua in Tilby drive and go straight down the road for 500m to enter Ferguson Park.
