Really, really good Chinese food. Unless you get there right on 6pm you will have to put your name down and wait. It's worth doing. On the expensive side.

There has been a huge influx of french people in Hong Kong in the last five years and Steak Frites restuarants are common place. This is one of the best ones. You will most likely have to wait but it's worth it.

This is a good budget option. We like the indian towards the back of the market but there's also Chinese food and a Michelin Starred (!) Italian restaurant that is very good. Avoid the thai restaurant. Enter from Queen St, Sheung Wan, up the escalator.

This is one of our favourites; spicy Thai Food. Again, you can't book but it's worth the wait. Expensive.

Won Ton Noodles are very Hong Kong and I highly recommend you eat some. Make sure to get green veggies as well. Extremely cheap. If you go between 12.30-2 there'll be a queue so try and go earlier.

Essentials

It's got almost everything (no eggs) but for a premium price. I get things like cheese here but I do all grocery shopping at the wet market.

Fruit and veg market. The shop on the corner of Gage Street with lots of different lettuce out the front is more expensive but easier to find what you want.

This used to be Police Married Quarters - the apartments have been converted to shops, galleries and cafes. Right across the road from our place and worth a wander around. Aberdeen St Social is good for brunch or a cocktail.
