Its a mix of food and drinks. You can eat in the open air dining area and then stay well in to the night when the upstairs nightclub opens

Its a newtown institution. Been there for ever! Great meals at a reasonable price. Week days Lindas runs cheap eats. I have my birthday here often. Highly recommended.

Not just a coffee shop but also does dinner. Pastas and Pastizzi are their specialties. Great Pannacotta. Probably the best for 15 km radius. Open very late!

More up market so its not cheap, but the food quality is well worth it as is the service. This place is for a special occasion. It is italian food and matches wines to go with what is served. The degustation menu is recommended.

Sightseeing
I recommend taking the manly ferry after seeing the opera house as you get to go past it with an un-interrupted view from the boat. Manly is also lovely. If in summer, take a towel and sun screen!

The zoo with a view. Its not only great if you love animals but you can walk your way down from the top and see the harbour in all its glory. You can go by train to Circular Quary then take the ferry to the Zoo as it has a dedicated warf stop.

A zoo which you can walk through and touch the animals. Pat a Koala, feed the Kangaroos and see the birds of Australia. Much more hands on than Torongaa Zoo but a little more difficult to get to due to its location. A must for animal lovers. You could book a tour to the blue mountains which would stop in at Featherdale.

Best seen in the mornings as the sun later sets behind the opera house.

excellent museum often showing modern pieces or special one off exhibitions. Great even on a rainy day and great too if you want to visit china town as it is near by. Also worth going to the chinese friendship gardens on your way to darling harbour
