Cosy Shepherd’s Hut near NC500 with Sea Views

At only five miles from the popular John o Groats signpost, Jo and Karina would love to welcome you at one of three cozy self-catering glamping pods at The Crofter's Snug - lots of local area info on our website. Located at the top of Scotland you'll enjoy one of the best views in the area - even the locals are envious! One mile off the popular NC500 tourist route, our two pods and a Shepherd's Hut offer peace and quiet in an idyllic location with some amazing sunrises, sunsets and starry skies.

Effie Pod Sleeps up to 4 people

Cosy glamping pod on the coast of the Highlands of Scotland overlooking the mountains of Glencoe with the imposing Ben Keil in the background. The pod is situated on a working croft by the shores of Loch Linnhe. There is abundant wildlife on our doorstep from red deer and sea eagles to pine marten and otters. There are many wonderful areas to explore here from leisurely walks or Ben Nevis being a 25 min drive. Plus the beautiful Glenfinnan viaduct and the Harry Potter train being 40 min drive !

The Shepherds Hut with Private Hot Tub

This is no ordinary shepherds hut with its very own log burner hot tub on the private deck overlooking the burn and woodlands. Inside, the living area has a well equipped kitchenette, arm chairs, drop down table and a large king size bed. It also has a spacious shower. You will also have access to the fire pit, complimentary kayaks, paddle boards, canoe and rowing boat during your stay. Single night stays are subject to a £35 supplement which will be added to your reservation after you book.

Below a pond and tucked behind a hedgerow on the edge of a permaculture smallholding, our charming shepherds hut is the perfect hideaway for those looking for an eco farm stay or self-made retreat. 'Muggans' (named after the Mugwort that grows by the steps) is entirely off-grid and has everything you'll need for a comfortable and memorable getaway, including a wood burning stove to keep you cozy, a wood fired hot tub to soak in under the stars and pizza oven for luxury campfire cooking.

Ethel's Coorie Doon is perfect for couples and solo adventurers who want to explore the local area. We welcome up to 2 furry friends, but please note, there is a pet fee of £14. Built from scratch by none other than the owners themselves, the dog-friendly Tweedenburn Shepherd's Hut is more than just a labour of love; it’s also a completely off-grid hut powered by solar panels and in an excellent spot for exploring the Scottish Borders. When you’re ready for a kip, there’s a comfortable double bed for two inside the hut. Complete with a woodburning stove. Firepit/ barbecue and gas hob provided in the outdoor kitchen. All utensils provided.
