The Old Dairy, cottage on Highland Farm

As the name suggests this cottage was previously used as dairy on the family farm in years gone by. The house was built in the 1850's, the first house on the farm as it is now. The cottage was also known as Grieves House and was home to the Manager of Dalmore Distillery years and years ago. We live on a family farm and there is always somebody nearby for assistance during your stay. Dalmore Farm is in a quiet location on the edge of Alness, a busy town which in 2018 won the title of Best High Street in Scotland. Set on the shore of the Cromarty Firth, this makes an ideal base for exploring Easter Ross and the Northern Highlands. Alness town centre is approx 10 - 15 walk Morrisons and Lidl are approx 5 minute walk

Inverness is a vibrant area perfect for the beginning of the NC500.

Spectacular sunsets can often be seen and, if you are lucky, the Northern Nights on a dark, clear night. Perfectly situated for touring the Highlands including Loch Ness which is less than 4 miles away, Glen Affric and further afield to Ben Nevis, Ullapool and Skye, just a short drive from Inverness. Strathpeffer village with restaurants and shop (1 mile), Inverness (18 miles), North Coast 500 (2 miles).

Foulis Castle Gate Lodge

Foulis Gate Lodge is a Highland cottage on the Gates of an historic, private, Highland estate with its own drive. The secluded location offers direct access to extensive gardens. The nearest amenities are 2miles in Evanton or 5miles to the ancient Burgh of Dingwall. Foulis Castle is a 15 min walk away from the Storehouse Restaurant & Farm shop, which is situated on the shore/beach of the Cromarty Firth (Mon-Sat 9-5pm). My place is good for NC500 travellers, couples, and business travellers.

Our cottage is located in the picturesque village of North Kessock on the Beauly Firth, outskirts of Inverness (the Black Isle) - a great neighbourhood at the start of the NC500 route. Short walk to hotel with bar & restaurant, café, local grocery shop/post office, bakers & gift shop. Nightlife & many restaurants available in Inverness, 10 minutes drive. Good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers & families (with kids). Easy access to all transport links. We welcome everybody.

The Lodge is the west wing of Nutwood House, a unique property, once the Factor’s House and part of the Earl of Cromartie estate.
