Located on Navy Pier, this is our country's most acclaimed Shakespeare theatre. The productions are world class on every level. If you haven't seen a play here, you're missing out on a great evening. It's not the boring Shakespeare you were forced to read in high school. The plays come to life on this main stage. There are major action sequences, lightning and thunder, canons, music, and even singing and dancing. And they feature award winning directors and actors. Tickets are surprisingly affordable...If you're under 35, you can buy two tickets for $20 each. And even regularly priced tickets are not expensive. Parking at Navy Pier is discounted for you as well.

Aside from NPR, this Tony-award winning theater is by far the classiest thing on Navy Pier. Something for everyone from classic Shakespeare, to Sondheim, to international theater & family productions.

If you think Shakespeare is akin to algebra on stage, you’ve never been to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. Chicago Shakespeare defies expectations with an innovative approach to classic works that resonate with a range of audiences. The theatre’s year-round season features as many as 20 productions and 650 shows annually, including plays, musicals, premieres, and family programming, all inspired by the planet’s greatest playwright. Popular shows have included SIX, the smash hit musical about the wives of Henry VIII; an award-winning rendition of The Tempest; and a collaboration with the comedy legends at The Second City for a hilarious retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Their Navy Pier space includes one of the most flexible theatre venues in the world — The Yard, composed of nine mobile audience towers that can be arranged in multiple ways.
