Yasaka Shrine, once called Gion Shrine, is a Shinto shrine located in Gion. It is also the most famous shrine in Kyoto, and is a host shrine for Kyoto's Gion Matsuri festival. Inside the shrine is a pleasant garden - a popular spot for hanami cherry-viewing parties in spring. Yasaka Shrine is also reputedly popular among geisha and a number of the shrine's many annual festivals are attended by them.

Yasaka Shrine is located in Gion area where Geisha works. It would be nice to walk around the shrine. And behind the shrine there is Maruyama Park where there are so many tourists all the time.

It is one of famous shrine in Kyoto. Many people go to pay a visit there on New Year's day. During the New Year's period, It presents a lively scene with its night-stalls.
