Besides our subdivisions 20+ miles of lightly traveled dirt roads, which are very good for a daily walk, nice hiking experiences are available at either October Mountain State Park or Appalachian Trail: two access points within 5 miles or less.

Expansive highlands, distinctive mountains, layered ridgelines, lush river walks and shaded glens are part of the A.T.’s diverse and captivating experiences through the Berkshire region of Massachusetts. There are 90 miles of trails in the region. You can access the trail in many cities in Berkshire County, a few of note: Becket, Great Barrington, North Adams. There are parking lots for day and overnight camping hikes. Massachusetts is home to Mt. Greylock, the mountain said to inspire Herman Melville to write “Moby Dick.” At 3,491 feet, this mountain is the highest point in Massachusetts and rises above the surrounding Berkshire landscape. On a clear day, you can see dramatic views up to 90 miles in the distance.
