Livraria Lello has been a bookstore very much of its times ever since 1906, carrying within it over a century of history and stories, imbued into its architectural surroundings and also into the bookish knowledge that shape the experiences of those who visit and those who read.

This library is probably one of the most beautiful places to visit in Porto. By other hand there is always a big queue to get in even if you bought your ticket in advance. If is it worth? If you are staying in Porto more than 2 days, my answer is yes, if not, my answer is no. Additionaly, you have to pay 5€ to get in but if you buy a book you can use that value as a 5€ voucher. Also, don't take serious when you read in the internet that this library is related with Harry Potter because is not!!! Anyway, it is a big mark in Porto for sure. I love it.

The Livraria Lello bookstore in Porto is one of the world's oldest bookstores, frequently ranked as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, and a top place to visit in Portugal.

First open in 1881 it’s one of the oldest libraries in Portugal. The bookstore was frequented by JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, when she taught English in Porto and is reported to be an inspiration for her writing.
