The local college campus might not be the first place that comes to mind when planning a sightseeing trip, but the Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh are a notable exception. These 26 functional classrooms in the towering Cathedral of Learning display the rich ethnic heritage of the Pittsburgh area, each architected and decorated in a style that exemplifies the country they represent. A collection of 30 unique classrooms depicted and donated by the ethnic/national groups of Pittsburgh. Located in the statuesque Late Gothic Revival building the Cathedral of Learning.

The Nationality Rooms are located within the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh. The Cathedral itself is a beautiful sight and the Nationality Rooms are a great feature. There are two options to see the Nationality Rooms- one was free and the other floor of rooms cost a small amount of money. We chose the free version and saw about 20 different rooms. The rooms are designed as a snapshot in history of different cultures around the world. They feature local craftsmanship, artifacts, and artwork from that time period. Make sure you flip a switch when you go into each room, a narrator will describe the room in detail. The one floor took us about an hour.
