Piazza Venezia is located at the foot of the Capitol, where the most important streets of the capital intersect, as Via dei Fori Imperiali and Via del Corso. The Vittoriano stands out, a colossal monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, also called the Altar of the Fatherland. Many are the historical palaces in the square. The bigger square in the historic center of Rome. It has many nice monuments, like the famous "Vittoriano" (The Altar of the Fatherland) - it was inaugurated by King Vittorio Emanuele III during the 50th anniversary of the unification of Italy at the Universal Exhibition on June 4th 1911. You can reach this impressive monument in 10 minutes by walk.
