San Bernardino National Forest is 0.7 miles away and is located at the south end of Leonard, up the street toward the mountains. Short walk to mountain hiking trails through the forest and beautiful scenic views of Big Bear Lake and Baldwin Lake the higher you go. Great place to take go walking for any desired level of difficulty. It’s about 3 miles to nearest summit, but definitely worth the hike.

The neighborhood is surrounded by National Forest. Walk a couple hundred yards to and up Bear Springs Rd into the peaceful and beautiful San Bernardino National Forest. Walk up to the right to get to the water tower and look towards Lake Arrowhead. Walk up and to the left and make your way up to Strawberry Peak ridge and see all of SoCal!! Amazing sunsets. Easy walk for children but please beware people drive fast on Bear Springs road. And you are at altitude so page yourself.
