Standing against a backdrop of rolling hills and set within its own beautiful gardens, Crathes Castle is a classic 16th century Scottish tower house. Enjoy turrets, towers, oak panels, painted ceilings, a historic walled garden with iconic yew hedges and plenty of nature trails for spotting roe deer, red squirrels, woodpeckers, buzzards and herons. Don’t miss the Horn of Leys, given to the Burnett family in the 14th century by Robert the Bruce.

Accessible by bus or cycle through the Old Railway Road. It has one of the most charming garden and typical of Scottish castles. The castle cafe or restaurant close by (Milton Brasserie) are also very good choice. Drum castle is about 20 minutes away if you have a car.
