If you fancy the beach, both Galway and Strandhill Co Sligo are only an hour away. Westport is also a great attraction where you can climb the famous Croagh Patrick. Westport is 1 hour, Carrick on Shannon is 45 mins, Galway is 1 hour 15 mins away. Sligo is 1 hour away. The house is an ideal base for touring the west of Ireland. Or a perfect place to just relax and enjoy the local area.

Ballindooley Castle

The Castle rests on about half an acre of land with Ballindooley Lake lying to the south west. It is surrounded by low walls and hedges: with a gated entrance controlled by an electronic security system. Features include 3 murders holes and a dungeon The castle was built by the DeBurgo family (approximately 1480). It had the distinction of being shelled by the British Gunboat ” Helga” during the1916 Rising to disband rebels
