The Donkey Dairy Cottage - Farm Stay

The Donkey Dairy is one of a kind! Nestled on the slopes of the majestic Magaliesberg, this working donkey farm is home to a variety of friendly farm animals. On your visit you will be greeted by our alpacas, chickens, donkeys, horses, goats and even camels. If you would like to replace your cell phone’s morning alarm with the crowing of roosters or replace the hooting of cars with the braying of donkeys, the solar powered Donkey Dairy Cottage is the place for you! Magaliesberg Mountain Retreat

This beautifully designed open plan stone and glass house sits in a private reserve in the unique Magaliesberg conservation area, surrounded by indigenous bush with extraordinary views of the mountain. Generous indoor and outdoor living spaces, an indoor fireplace, a well equipped kitchen, braai and fire pit lend themselves to intimate gatherings, family breaks and retreats. A beautiful swimming dam and walks around and to the top of the mountain offer a unique and private bush experience.

Raised veranda deck overlooking a private garden, fully fenced and gated with built-in outdoor braai and bonfire areas. Hosts small to large-sized (social) dog breeds.

Alto Log Cabin

Set on a protea farm in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind, Alto Cabin provides tranquil and relaxing accommodation for up to 4 people in a self catering log cabin. Guests have the option of either unwinding and enjoying the spectacular views from the cabin; visit the many fossil sights and museums in the area; embark on a 4x4 trail nearby or enjoy a horseback safari through the neighbouring reserve on one of our guided horse trails, suitable for the beginner or the more experienced rider.

It is ideal for a romantic breakaway for 2 people who are looking to get away from it all. It is about 200 metres from the main house but still private and secluded. You will have time to recharge your batteries. The cottage is off the grid but with all the facilities you require. The plunge pool is for your use only and it is not heated. Peace & quiet and beautiful surroundings make this cottage very special and a birder's paradise! The cottage is pet-friendly.

Porcupine house

A compact house situated amongst the trees in a pecan nut orchard. This stylish unit is on the Melody Hill Retreat property - Yoga classes and kahuna massages can be arranged on arrival. Feel free to walk in the pecan nut orchard or to walk through the labyrinth. You're bound to spot monkeys, bush babies, squirrels, porcupines and lots of hornbills during your stay. Enjoy perfect winter days next to the wood-burning fireplace.
