The 1847 Powhattan House & Living History Museum

Until there is time-travel, staying in the 1847 Powhatan House may be the next best thing. This is the 3rd oldest house in Galveston and has an amazing, almost unbelievable history. This beautiful Greek Revival style home is located 3 blocks from the beach and close to the Strand. The story of the house is told in a brief documentary on YouTube entitled “The Amazing History of Galveston's 1847 Powhatan House.”

Our vacation rental, The Pelican Cove, is just 2 short blocks from the beach, a mere 3 minute walk from the seawall, less than a mile away from Pleasure Pier. Our house has free wifi, two 40" smart TVs with access to many streaming services available for use, and is pet friendly! There is a place for 6 people to sleep comfortably and maybe max 9 people to fit in the house, if using the sofa.
