[15min Drive] The son of a Jewish family born in Salamis, St. Barnabas, after studying in Jerusalem, returned to Cyprus and in 45 to spread Christianity, St. He started working with Paul. Монастырь Варнавы-удивительное место христианской культуры на территории мусульманского Северного Кипра. В главном здании церкви находятся иконы многих святых, найденные при раскопках. Выйдя во внутренний двор можно посетить исторический музей, в котором представлены различные артефакты: посуда, купели, античные амфоры, домашняя утвать. Там же во дворике есть небольшое кафе, где в тени можно выпить прохладительные напитки или вкусный турецкий чай, а также приобрести сувениры. Метрах в ста от монастыря находится часовня над склепом, где лежат мощи святого Варнавы. Нужно пройти по тёмной узкой лестнице вниз и увидеть этот склеп. Очень интересно и познавательно.
