Royal palaces in Malaysia have an undeniable charm and Istana Bukit Serene in JB is just one of the many. Built in 1933, it features Art Deco style architecture, intricate carvings and manicured lawns. The building is currently the official residence of the Sultan of Johor, therefore, is not open to the public. However, many visitors still come by to check out the beautiful exterior and take pictures here - the highlight would be the unique large arch topped with a model of the Sultan's crown. Check out actual crown jewels in this beautiful park outside of the palace grounds. A must do if you are in JB.
