Just 38 minutes drive, & made very popular by the 2021 film The Dig. Sutton Hoo near Woodbridge, is the site of two early medieval cemeteries dating from the 6th to 7th centuries. Archaeologists have been excavating the area since 1938. One cemetery had an undisturbed ship burial with a wealth of Anglo-Saxon artifacts.

Sutton Hoo is a historically rich site. This is the site where the famous helmet was discovered at the ship burial site believed to be that of king Raedwald the Anglo-Saxon king of East Anglia. These 2cemeteries date back to the 6th/7th centuries.
