Bishamondo is one of the Tendai sect's five monzeki (Imperial) temples in Kyoto. Said to have been founded in 703, the temple was relocated to its present site in the hills southeast of Kyoto in 1665. It's main image of worship is Bishamonten, one of the Guardians of the Four Directions (Shitenno), who is also revered as one of the Seven Lucky Gods.

If you want to visit non-tourist spot, I recommend this temple! There are no souvenir shops/restaurants around this quiet temple but it's worth taking photos from the bottom of its stairs.
