my tip for this trip is always check the tides . if you make it as far as Crantock the beach there is amazing, you can get a little ferry back onto terra firma. You have a quant cafe called Fern Pitt to enjoy a cream tea or a fresh crab sandwich.

This is such a gem for locals as its much quieter than the beaches during the busier months its great place to walk the dog, explore, crabbing & just play..but please check tide times

Another spot that stays relatively quiet. If the tide is out it’s a great place to take small children to play in the sand and paddle in the little pools. At high tide perfect for SUPing and kayaking.

The Gannel Estuary feels a world away from the popular sprawl of Newquay. Bordering the town just south of the headland, this sheltered stretch of water flows in accordance with the tide. Sweeping sands and blue lagoons are revealed at low tide, filling this fantastic stretch with emerald blues, vibrant greens and golden shores. Contact Newquay Activity Centre for a guided tour, they are located 1 minutes walk from the cottage on Fire Street. Otherwise there are many other paddle board hire companies. At low tide you can walk across the estuary to Crantock and have a pint and food at the historic pubs there or check out Jam Jar Cafes sister shop ‘Jam Jar Kitchen’ for some cafe treats.
