During World War II Villa Grande was the residence of the Norwegian collaborator and Nazi-leader, Vidkun Quisling. Villa Grande was then known as "Gimle". Entry is not too expensive.
The Center for Studies of Holocaust and Religious Minorities in Norway is located in Villa Grande on the Bygdøy peninsula. During World War II Villa Grande was the residence of the Norwegian collaborator and Nazi-leader, Vidkun Quisling. Villa Grande was then known as "Gimle". The Center presents a modern exhibition on the Holocaust. Images, sounds, film, items and text documents the genocide on the European Jews, as well as the Nazi State's mass murder and persecution of other peoples and minorities. The Center for Studies of Holocaust and Religious Minorities has two main fields of interest: the Holocaust on the one hand and religious minorities on the other. Within these two fields of interest the Center will contribute with new research, education and information activities, exhibitions and conferences.
