Great place to go before a hike at Great Wass Island Preserve. They have a touch tank with Maine sea creatures!

Per their website: The Downeast Institute for Applied Marine Research & Education located on Beal’s Island, raises between three and five million seed clams annually for 60 Maine communities. The Downeast Institute offers guided tours of their shellfish nursery. More information is available by calling George Protopopescu at the telephone number provided or by visiting their website. On a personal note, Beal's Island is just gorgeous and is well worth the visit, just by itself. :)
